Access through the Science activity database menu and search tools.
This database is for my own reference, but I am glad to share it with others that are seeking ideas for hands-on science activities.
Every activity is a 15-30 minute hands-on experience of a basic scientific phenomenon, that can be run alone or partnered with others. Activities are mostly low tech, striving to use materials that are easily obtainable and budget-conscious. A lesson plan is an hour or more long, and includes several activities.
Note: constant additions and edits occur as new activities and lessons are developed and old ones are revisited.
Most of the activities have been run in Elementary school classrooms and after school science programs in Vancouver. Some were developed in science centres and botanical gardens in Canada and the US.
All activities and lesson plans are linked to the Science Content of the Elementary science curriculum of British Columbia, Canada. By their hands-on nature, every activity incorporates many of the science curricular competencies.
For easier reference, I made summary tables of the Science Content and Curricular Competencies.
